I grew up in what felt like Alice in Wonderland. My family of
origin presented themselves one way and the truth was totally
different. The details are not important except to say my childhood
made me question everything. All this questioning has helped me
learn a lot about myself and the world around me.
I knew from an early age that I needed power and money when I grew
up. I knew that the adults who had the power and money were in
charge and I wanted to be in charge! That’s what I set out to do
with me first college degree; I graduated from The American College
of Fine Arts where I received a BA in fashion merchandising. After
graduation I attained a job in Atlanta, GA as an assistant buyer for
a mail order catalog. I did go on to other bigger and better in that
career including managing and buying for a large sporting goods
store in Hilton Head Island, SC. I am a girl who achieves what she
sets her mind to; the problem was that the power and money didn’t do
it for me.
I had gotten married and traveled and I still wasn’t satisfied with
life. I wanted to do something that might actually help someone. I
went back to college for degree number two. This time I graduated
from San Francisco State University with a BS in Early Childhood
Education. Bravo…off to save the world! I enjoyed teaching. I became
dissatisfied when I realized I really couldn’t make a difference
because of all the school politics and red tape.
When I got pregnant with my daughter I decided to switch gears into
the full time mom job. Finally something that was satisfying!
Challenging yes, yet this was a place I could make a difference in
the world. I started my journey to where I am today after giving
birth to my beautiful little girl. I could change the world one
family at a time, starting with mine!
Having a child made me start questioning everything again, so off I
went. To the library, bookstore and online searching for the answers
to my questions. It took years and today I feel like my answers have
come. Most of my answers come from within, from mentors and from my
children. Today my life is glorious. My journey has lead me here, I
am a certified life coach who loves what she does. My husband and I
both work from home, we unschool our children and have many hobbies
we enjoy. We have a full life that we live one day at a
time…together!
